You may have to just start moving. Some old preachers often said, “You can't steer a parked car.” It's not going anywhere. We know what the word of God teaches. We know God's heart for the world. The desire to serve has come from somewhere; and not likely from God's enemies, if we are obeying Him.
There is a great deal of freedom within the will of God to act. God takes volunteers. What do we have to lose by moving in a particular direction by faith? Is God able to lead us along the way?
Waiting until we have all the answers leads to not getting started. Is God's Word enough to move me where I'm at right now? In the light of eternity, what have you got to lose by obeying God? Giving up comfort and security that the world offers can involve painful choices for many of us. Laying down our lives and trusting fully in God is in contrast, to the world's wisdom. What will we gain by trusting God instead of worldly wisdom? (See Hebrews 11:6)
Start by laying out the Biblical basis for action. Why will you do what you want to do? What are the long-term benefits and consequences? How does God's written word apply personally?
At the same time, you might lean into local church leadership. Are you actively ministering in the Church where you are? What are leaders telling you about your skills, your readiness, your spiritual maturity? Are you listening? You might have to ask questions that have painful answers, but that's how we grow. We are a Body.
