People seem to have a lot of knowledge about God; but do they know Him? Have we shown them His glory?

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. — John 17:3

We can give people a lot of information about God without ever walking with them through His word to show them His identity, character, and purpose. While information about Him is vital, people need to know God as the hero of the story of His glory.

Discipleship is about walking with people through life, teaching them to obey Jesus. We might carelessly teach people what to do without leading them into a relationship with God that shows them why.

Based on their spiritual jargon, or our knowledge of their history with other believers, we might think we know what a person believes. We dare not make assumptions, based on casual interaction, about what people know and believe. We must check the foundations by asking, then teaching people of God's person, purpose, plan, people, and processes. Then they will be equipped to lead others to know Him and walk with Him.

There is only one object of faith that can save our souls. Other objects such as a prayer, an action, church attendance, good deeds, and righteous living cannot help people when they meet Jesus Christ. Only faith in Christ as our crucified, resurrected, omnipotent Creator & Redeemer can save any of us eternally.

God delivered the knowledge of Himself over history in a pattern of progressive revelation. His pattern is a wise and fruitful one to follow. He laid foundations for faith.
